New Horizon Education
About New Horizon:

Nurture, Belong, Grow.
Our Learning Journey at New Horizon
At New Horizon, we tailor our approach to meet the needs of every child, guiding them through each stage of their educational journey. Our school is structured into three phases, each designed to nurture, support and inspire children to achieve their full potential.
-
EYFS – Discoverers
Our youngest learners begin their journey as Discoverers, where curiosity is encouraged, and every day is an opportunity to explore, play, and build the foundations for a love of learning. -
KS1 – Explorers
As children grow, they become Explorers. In this phase, we support them to develop key skills in literacy, numeracy, and social understanding, while encouraging independence and creativity. -
KS2 – Adventurers
Our older children become Adventurers, building on their knowledge and resilience to prepare for the next stage of education and life. They are supported to achieve their outcomes with confidence, responsibility, and pride.
Each phase is carefully supported through a bespoke curriculum, ensuring every child has the tools, guidance, and encouragement to succeed on their personal journey.
Discoverers- EYFS
In our alternative provision setting, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is carefully tailored to meet the unique needs of each child, ensuring that learning is both accessible and meaningful. Our approach is rooted in creating opportunities that not only support academic growth but also nurture essential life skills. Children engage in activities such as cooking, gardening, and exploring nature to develop independence and confidence. We place a strong emphasis on relationship-building, communication, and emotional regulation, helping children to develop the social skills they need to thrive in everyday life. Through play-based, hands-on experiences like role play, problem-solving tasks, and creative arts, we foster curiosity and resilience, while ensuring every child feels valued, supported, and prepared for their future.
In our alternative provision setting, Key Stage 1 is built around a friendly, adaptable, and nurturing environment where every child’s individual needs are supported. Our ethos is centred on care, understanding, and flexibility, ensuring that children feel safe, valued, and ready to learn. Building on the foundations established in the Early Years, we continue to focus on life skills such as independence, communication, teamwork, and self-care, while also introducing new and exciting academic opportunities. Play-based learning remains at the heart of our approach, encouraging creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving, alongside more structured curriculum activities that spark enthusiasm and a love for learning. This balance allows children to grow in confidence and resilience, while developing the vital skills that will support them both inside and outside of the classroom.
Explorers- KS1
As children move into Key Stage 2 within our alternative provision setting, we continue to provide a nurturing and adaptable environment that supports their growing independence and confidence. Building on the life skills and foundations of learning developed in the Early Years and KS1, our focus expands to include problem-solving, critical thinking, and preparing children for the wider world. Alongside a rich and engaging academic curriculum, we provide practical opportunities such as cooking, outdoor learning, teamwork projects, and community-based activities, helping children to apply their skills in meaningful contexts. Play and creativity still play an important role, but are increasingly complemented by structured tasks that challenge and inspire. Our ethos remains rooted in care and understanding, ensuring that every child is guided, supported, and encouraged to thrive as they progress on their learning journey.
